Here’s a brief (?) rundown for setting up a CentOS 6.5 web server from scratch, using Linux Apache, MySQL and PHP (a.k.a LAMP).

To setup a LAMP server on a fresh VPS/Dedicated server running Centos 5.0 with atleast 256mb of RAM. We will also be installing Webmin, a free server control panel for linux. Boot the ISO and follow the prompts to install CentOS. Most defaults should get you going. You can configure the network settings and operating system features (packages) from within the installer, but for the most part the general defaults should get you to where you need to be. Restart networking

Update packages (you may want to run this 2 or 3 times to pull all the dependencies etc.)

Install Apache, MySQL, PHP and archive bundles.

Start Services

Set Services to start automatically

Secure MySQL. Set a root password and accept recommended defaults

Allow ports 80 and 443 through the server’s firewall

[Optional] Install an FTP Server. Though you can (and should) transfer files through SSH/SCP, oldskool types might prefer to install an FTP service for managing files on the webserver.
